On the 9th of July 2024, during the 2-day visit of Prime Minister Modi to Moscow, Russia, the Indian Business Council actively participated in the meeting between the Prime Minister and the Indian diaspora in Russia. This visit marked Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Russia since 2019 and his first visit in the new term as Prime Minister.
During his address to the Indian diaspora in Russia, Prime Minister Modi warmly welcomed the community and reiterated his commitment to maintaining strong bonds with Russia. He expressed his deep affection for the Russian people and his close friendship with President Vladimir Putin. Highlighting his vision for India, Modi stated his aspiration to propel India into the top three economies globally within the next five years. He emphasized that this ambitious goal is achievable through robust partnerships with countries like Russia, which are pivotal players in the emerging multipolar world.
Key highlights from Prime Minister Modi’s address included a significant increase in consular representations in Russia. Plans are underway to establish two new consulates in Ekaterinburg and Kazan, regions identified for their strategic importance in fostering collaboration across various industries. This expansion will bring the total number of Indian consulates in Russia to five, promising to boost cultural and tourism exchanges and increase the frequency of flights between the two nations.
