The conference was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Ivanovo region Yulia Vasilyeva, Director General of the regional investment agency Yulia Tumanova, President of the Indian Business Council Akashdeep Singh, representatives of Indian and Russian business, Ivanovo universities.
“According to customs data, in 2021 the trade turnover of the Ivanovo region with the Republic of India amounted to $ 14.3 million. The main export items are equipment, mechanical devices, boilers, machine tools, textiles, medical surgical instruments and apparatuses. The region imports equipment, sewing machines, textiles, furniture,” Yulia Vasilyeva said.
President of the Indian Business Council Akashdeep Singh expressed a desire to intensify interstate relations. He noted that the Ivanovo region is a region with high investment potential, rich cultural and historical traditions. This invariably attracts businesses to implement ambitious projects here, Akashdeep Singh added.
Yulia Tumanova spoke about promising areas for the development of cooperation between the Ivanovo region and India.
“We consider light industry, medicine and pharmaceuticals, chemistry, mechanical engineering and machine tool construction, IT, electronics and energy, agriculture to be priority sectors for cooperation. The Ivanovo region offers potential investors attractive conditions for doing business: preferential sites, support measures and a quick start to launch,” the General director of the investment agency said.
The online conference was attended by the founder and Director of the Eurasian Federation of Oncology, Dr. Somasundaram Subramanian, CEO of the Biopharmaceutical Center of Eniker Bio Sciences Rus, Divesh Kumar, from the Indian side. They focused on the development of the medical and pharmaceutical industries of Russia and India, in particular, the development of biomedicine in the two countries, improving the quality of education, human resources, and the use of new medical techniques in treatment.
Another important topic of the online meeting was initiatives in the field of education and interuniversity exchanges. The Acting rector of IvGMA Inna Ivanova and the rector of IGEU Grigory Ledukhovsky told about the project of the international scientific and educational center “Bolshaya Ivanovskaya Manufaktura”, which is aimed at the development of advanced scientific areas and the creation of a high-tech economy in the region. They also discussed the development of the chemical industry and electronics.
