Mr. Akashdeep Singh, President of the Indian Business Council, participated in the BRICS+ fashion summit event entitled “From Factory to Runway.” The event “Industry on Trend” was held in the grand hall of Zaryadye Park, Moscow, on October 4, 2024. The speakers included Sladjana Milojevic, Director of the Fashion Apparel Cluster of Serbia; Alexandra Kaloshina, Founder of Solstudio Textile Group; Alexey Romanenko, Managing Partner of NEO Consulting Company; and Mubashar Naseer Butt, Chairman of the Pakistan Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Ready-to-Wear (PRGMEA). The main topic of discussion was “From factory to runway: Contemporary industry trends.”
The session consisted of three main elements. The first segment focused on the problems and challenges in the textile industry, particularly in the initial stages. The speakers discussed the challenges faced by the industry and the lack of significant progress in addressing these issues. The second segment focused on the progress of the light industry, and the speakers discussed the contributions of different countries to both individual and collective development in order to strengthen the alliance.
The concluding segment focused on the industry’s future and unicorn enterprises. The parties discussed the rise of unicorn companies in the Russian market and the potential for Indian companies, listed among the top 28 unicorns in the fashion sector, to adopt similar business patterns in the Russian market. They also discussed whether Russian enterprises have adequate capacity for growth in the current environment.
